Rage Player of the
Week 2007 |
|
For the 2008 Orlando Rage Season look for the "new
and improved" Orlando Rage Player of the Week. Rage fans
have always enjoyed the old "POW", but starting this
season, Gregor "Tank" Olsen, "The Voice of the Rage"
will be awarding the honor. Look (and listen) for Tank
at all O'Rage home games booming his distinctive voice
over the PA system as he calls the Rage games. Also look
for Tank's Player of the Week picks! |

Week 2007 |
|
Week 1: #10 (K) Matt Field |
|
|
Week 1's Orlando Rage Player of
the week is Kicker Matt Field. Matt accounted for ten of
the Orlando Rage's 22 points in the Rage's victory over
Four-Time SSFL Champs, St. Petersburg Sharks, including
a clutch field goal to win the game with time running
out in overtime.
Matt is a returning Orlando Rage veteran after taking
the 2005 and 2006 seasons off to kick professionally in
the AIFL and the NIFL. All of the Rage fans, players,
staff and coaches are glad to have Matt on board for the
2007 season.
Congratulations to Matt Field
on being named Orlando Rage Player of the Week!

|
Week 2: #43 (S) Nick Frazier |
|
|
Week 2's Orlando Rage Player of
the week is Safety, Nick Frazier. Nick, a rookie to the
Rage and the SSFL, has quickly made himself a leader on
the already powerful Rage Defense. Nick pulls duty on
defense and punt and kick returns and kick off teams,
rarely getting an opportunity to step off the field.
In the Rage's week 2 shut out
victory over the defending SSFL Champion, First Coast
Generals, Nick snagged three interceptions and made an
enormous hit on the Generals ball carrier on fourth down
ending a Generals drive. Nick's hard work and
hard-hitting football play makes him Player of the Week.
Congratulations to Nick
Frazier on being named Orlando Rage Player of the Week!

|
Week 4: #15 (QB) PeeJay Jack |
|
|
Week 4's Orlando Rage Player of
the week is Quarterback, PeeJay Jack. PeeJay returns to
the Rage as a "Rookie" Quarterback after playing
professional football in the NIFL and AIFL as a receiver
for the past two seasons. Prior to that PeeJay was a
receiver in the SSFL with the Rage, the Starz and the
Panthers. In Week
Four PeeJay led the Rage to an away-game,
come-from-behind victory against the Gulf Coast Iron
Eagles; leading the Rage from a third quarter 33 to 7
deficit to a 34 to 33 victory. PeeJay's leadership
facilitated the victory.
Congratulations to PeeJay
Jack on being named Orlando Rage Player of the Week!
 |
|
|
Week 5: #25 (RB) Levi Raines, Jr. |
|
|
Week 5's Orlando Rage Player of
the week is Running Back, Levi Raines. Levi returns to
the Rage as his second season and continues to thrill
Rage fans with his skills. In the 2006 season despite
missing several games with an injury, Levi accounted for
many of the Rage's touchdowns.
In week five when the Rage
traveled to Fort Myers to take on the Spartans Levi
scored touchdowns on the first two series and,
interestingly enough, the scores occurred on his first
two "touches". Levi went on to score another one against
the Spartans before he was given a rest to allow the
back up some playing time.
"Any time that Levi has the
ball, it's potentially a score" commented Rage head
coach, Steve Casteel about Raines' talents.
Congratulations to Levi
Raines on being named Orlando Rage Player of the Week!

|
|
Week 6: #3 LB/DB Dale Boston |
|
|
Week 6's Orlando Rage Player of
the week is LB/DB Dale Boston. Dale set up two
touchdowns in Week Six. The first when he snagged an
errant War Eagles pass and returned it deep into War
Eagles' territory with only seconds left in the half.
This set up a Rage touchdown as time expired in the half
stretching the Rage lead to 35 to 0 at halftime.
The second of Dale's
"assists" occurred in the second half when the War
Eagles punted. Dale scooped up the short punt and winded
his way to the War Eagles' 8 yard line, again making
easy work for the Rage offense to score.
Dale's ball-handling skills
aren't the only facet of the game that he excelled in as
the Rage pummeled the War Eagles by the score of 40 to
0; rather Dale also accounted for 8 solo tackles (3 of
which were for negative yards) and 4 assists. It was
Dale's defensive skills that helped keep the War Eagles
out of the end zone for the entire 60 minutes and that
aided the Rage "Goon Squad" defense in holding the War
Eagles to negative yards in total offense.
Congratulations to Dale
Boston
on being named Orlando Rage Player of the Week!

|
Week 7: #83 (WR) Preston McGann |
|
|
Week 7's Orlando Rage Player of
the week is Wide Receiver, Preston McGann. Preston comes
to the Rage this season as a rookie playing ball at this
level for the first time. But he surely could show some
veterans how to play receiver. Preston's background is
mostly in baseball but he quickly put his baseball
skills and natural athletic ability to work on the
Gridiron.
Preston plays every receiver
position for the Rage and the Rage quarterbacks have
learned that they can count on him when they need that
clutch reception.
In week 7 against the Fire,
Preston caught an early pass to set up the Rage in
scoring position and later caught a short pass that he
turned up the field to score, punishing the Fire
defensive back on the way.
Preston is a "quiet leader"
opting to let his skills "do the talking for him".
Congratulations to Preston
McGann on being named Orlando Rage Player of the Week!

|
|
Week 8: #42 (RB) Michael Rivers |
|
|
Week 8's Orlando Rage Player of
the week is Running Back, Michael Rivers. Michael
returns to the Rage this season as a second-year player.
Last season he shared duty at fullback with James
Andrews and had a break out game in the 2006 play-offs
against the Polk War Eagles.
This season Michael has redoubled
his efforts in tribute to his mother who passed away
during the off season.
Michael is consistently a
hard-worker and his work ethic raises the bar for all
other Rage running backs and players, alike.
In week eight Michael took
the first play from scrimmage 65 yards for a touchdown
and by game's end he had amassed over 25o yards rushing
and another touchdown.
Congratulations to Michael
Rivers on being named Orlando Rage Player of the Week!

Week 9: BYE |
|
|
|
|
|
Week 10: Rage "Goon Squad" Defense |
|
|
Week Ten pitted the reigning
SSFL Champs and potent and quick-scoring First Coast
Generals offense against the Orlando Rage "Goon Squad"
defense. The Generals have historically been one of the
highest scoring teams in the SSFL under the tutelage of
Generals Head Coach Joe Davis and perennial All Star
Quarterback, Steve Mott.
Despite the talents of the
Generals, the "Goon Squad" held them to only 14 points,
6 of which occurred when the Rage gave the Generals the
ball deep in Rage territory and the final 8 being scored
only after the outcome of the match had been determined.
The hard-hitting squad
stopped the Generals every step of the way, thus
permitting the Rage Offense to put up some points.
Hence, the "Goon Squad" is
this week's "Player of the Week".

Week 11: #6 DB Carlos Solomon |
|
Week Eleven had the 8 and 1 Rage
traveling to Jacksonville to take on the NFC North rival
North Florida Rams. This game was especially significant
to the Rage as the Division "bragging rights" were at
stake and the Rage were seeking to avenge their sole
loss of the season.
The Rage offense got things
started early after Carlos Solomon intercepted a Rams
pass early in the game setting up the first Rage score
of the game.
The Rams, however, were not
going to lay down for the Rage and fought back. Each
time the Rage seemed to get some breathing room, the
Rams would strike back keeping the game close.
Finally, the
Rage got the break they were looking for in the fourth quarter. With the score
Rage 34, Rams 28, the Rams were driving for the apparent tying score,
Carlos broke on a pass by the Rams quarterback and intercepted it and returned
it deep setting up the Rage touchdown.
Carlos came into the
season as a rookie and quickly worked his way up the
depth chart to start as a true "cover-corner". Carlos
may give up a little in size, but he more than makes up
for it with speed, effort and an innate ability to find
the ball. If the opposing receiver is lucky enough to
catch a pass, the sure-handed Carlos will insure that
there are little or no "yards-after-catch" or deliver a
crushing hit.
Carlos Solomon, this week's "Player of the Week".

Play Offs:
#15 QB PeeJay Jack |
|
The Divisional Play-Off weekend
of April 14, pitted the Rage against the Generals. This
game marked the third time this season that the two
matched up.
The first time was a
defensive struggle with the Rage coming out on top 7 to
0. Later, on March 17 the Rage ground game put up 40
points on the Generals in a 40 to 14 victory.
This time the Generals were
ready for the powerful Rage running game. With the
Generals putting "8 in the box" the Rage had to rely on
their yet-to-be-shown passing game putting the pressure
squarely on Rage QB PeeJay Jack's shoulders.
PeeJay gladly took on the
challenge and before the game was over, PeeJay passed
for almost 300 yards, went 17 of 23, threw two touchdown
passes, and ran in another touchdown.
PeeJay's ability to shift the
emphasis of the team from its historical strength of
running the ball to "airing it out" demonstrated his
flexibility and natural passing abilities in order to
lead the Rage to a victory.
PeeJay's versatility will
surely give the Sharks some thoughts as they come to
down this weekend.
PeeJay jack, Orlando Rage
Player of the Week.
