The
Orlando Rage evolved from the brainchild of football fan,
Andrew G. Haines, and his desire to give himself and many
others the coveted "Second Chance" at playing the greatest
sport on earth; Football. In 2000 Andrew put together the
Orlando Starz Semi-Pro Football team in Orlando.
Unbeknownst to Andrew,
Rockledge businessman and former professional football player,
Michael Shannon, had already embarked on Andrew's journey in
establishing a Semi-Pro football team in Central Florida known
as the Orlando (Space Coast) Panthers.
It wasn't long before the
two met up with one another and started playing head-to-head.
Along came current Rage
owners, Chris Morrison and Randy Horn who saw that beating up
on each-other each year wasn't productive, but JOINING
one-another was. Hence, the Orlando Rage was created.
In its nine years of
existence the Rage-consisting of former Starz, Panthers, and
newcomers-has amassed a better-than 83 percent winning
percentage, three Division Champions, two Commissioner's Cups,
five SSFL Hall-of-Fame Inductees, the first ever Television
Contract, two and SSFL Championships, two FFA Championships
and numerous National Championships.
All of these were done while
placing well over two dozen players into Professional and
Collegiate football programs.
In addidion, the Rage
created the first ever "Toys for Tots" and Katrina Hurricane
Victims' Charity games and donated countless hours and money
to such organizations as Recovery House and Central Florida
Youth Football League. |
