Always an innovator in Semi-Pro and Minor League
circles, the Orlando Rage front office is in the final stages of
inking a deal with the NATIONAL REALITY FOOTBALL LEAGUE
(NRFL) to have the Rage's core staff and players form a
team in central Florida. The NRFL kicks off this Spring after the conclusion
of the Florida Football Alliance's 2010 season.
The NRFL, a 15 year plus dream of promoter, Todd Knapp
is about to become a REALITY, in more ways than the name
implies. The 2010 NRFL will consist of a half dozen or
so teams throughout the United States each competing for
a national Champion.
So, what's new about that?
TELEVISION!
The NRFL will match America's "passion" with its
"pastime"; Football and Reality Television as the NRFL
television crews will follow each team and player
through
the ups and downs of football from try-outs, weekly
practices and game preparation to actual game action.
Each week the players will face potential elimination
from their squads or being drafted by another
franchise.....all in the view of the cameras....and at
the whim of the audience.
"I'm not in a position to disclose proprietary
information at this point, but suffice it to say this
endeavor will combine attributes of Survivor,
and Donald Trump's Apprentice, with
real-life football." Commented Rage president,
Christopher Morrison.
"Given the Orlando Rage's history of success, both on
the field and in their front office, I could think of no
better Minor League franchise in the state, or the
country for that matter, to run lead in the central
Florida market" added Knapp.
The proposed NRFL team will be anchored by
existing Rage players and staff and augmented by players
participating in the upcoming try outs as well as
additional staff. Already on board is former Orlando
Rage Defensive coordinator and current Head Coach of the SEFL Florida Crusaders, Lou Briggins. "Coach Briggins
brings so much to the table with his coaching,
organizational and motivational skills and it will be
great to join forces with him after three years"
Morrison went on.
The actual team name, roster and personnel have not yet
been set. As in any reality television program the
television and internet viewing audience will make these
final decisions.
Initial try outs will take place on Sunday, February 21,
2010, at the Orlando Sports Complex. Try out fees are
$70
$50
per person (including current players) and will guarantee you an opportunity to
make the NRFL roster and television coverage as
well as a short bio and actual film of each
participant's performance.
