2010 FFA CHAMPS!

BACK-TO-BACK-TO-BACK CHAMPS

Jacksonville, Fl.

May 1, 2010

The Florida Football Alliance (FFA) held its third annual "Alliance Bowl" on Saturday night at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida. The event featured two storied Minor League Football franchises-the Miami Magic City Bulls and the Orlando Rage.

The Bulls came into the game having won three league championships as well as boasting the FFA's stingiest defense. The Bulls were also ranked Sixth Nationally by the Minor League BCS.

The Rage were the reigning National Football Events Spring National Champions, back-to-back League Champions, the FFA's highest scoring offense and ranked number one in all three Minor League Football ranking organizations polls.

Making the match up even more interesting the Rage went into the game starting 43 year old, back-up quarterback, Kenny King.  Rage starting quarterback and FFA All Star, Kyle Israel, was ejected during the April 24 Conference Championship game and determined to be ineligible for the Alliance Bowl despite compelling evidence that the league officials misinterpreted the Rules.

And the game surely held up to all of the pre-game hype and drama.

The Rage took the lead early on a short touchdown run by RB Jermaine Boston. But the Bulls charged back scoring 17 points in the first half, the final seven on an interception of Rage QB Kenny King as time was running out in the first half.

In the second half the Bulls continued to put up points scoring again on a QB Julio Martinez pass to WR Terrence Holland making the score 24 to 6 in the third quarter.

That is when the Rage "Goon Squad" defense got tough and the offense started to click. Driving in the third quarter and down by 18 points, Rage Offensive Coordinator, Ron Scarlata, reached into deep into the playbook and called for (Alliance Bowl MVP and FFA Player of the Year) Levi Raines to pass the ball. On the other end of the pass was Rage WR Andre Raines scoring on the completed pass.

The Rage then managed another touchdown and the Bulls connected on another field goal leaving the score 27 to 20 late in the fourth quarter. The Rage then drove the distance of the field capped off by a King to WR Donald Orelus touchdown pass tying the score at 27 each.

On the ensuing possession of the Bulls the Rage Defense caused a turnover. The Rage then incorporated their version of the "Wildcat" offense featuring Levi Raines at quarterback. Several plays later the Rage scored taking the lead with less than two minutes left in regulation.

But the Bulls were not willing to give up and scored as time expired. Rage 34, Bulls 34 at the end of regulation.

The Rage won the overtime coin toss and elected to take the ball. And with the ball, the Rage continued the "Wildcat" (dubbed "Wild-Rage") offense. Levi Raines then showed the crowd why he was the League Player of the Year. Taking the ball Raines scampered down the filed, seemingly tackled no less than three times, as he scored the overtime touchdown.

     Rage 40, Bulls 34.
